KEMPF NAMED NFHCA DIVISION III
FIELD HOCKEY COACH OF THE YEAR

ROWAN COACH GARNERS NATIONAL HONOR

After leading Rowan's field hockey team to its first national championship with an undefeated 21-0 overall record, Penny Kempf was named the 2002 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Coach of the Year. The national title marked the first for a women's team at Rowan in the history of the University.

Kempf has led the Profs to five straight national tournament appearances and three NJAC Conference titles since being named head coach at Rowan in 1998. She previously served as an assistant coach for both the Prof field hockey and lacrosse programs since 1991.

A former All-American in both field hockey and lacrosse at Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), Kempf guided the Profs to the national title with a 1-0 victory over Messiah in the national championship game on November 23.
