NJCU TO HOST FREE GIRL'S BASKETBALL CLINIC

GOTHIC KNIGHTS TO COMMEMORATE NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY WITH SECOND ANNUAL FREE CLINIC

New Jersey City University will host a free girl's basketball clinic on February 6, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM  in recognition of the 17th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The program will mark the second consecutive year that NJCU has offered a free clinic to young female athletes in the Jersey City metropolitan area. This year’s National Girls and Women In Sports Day theme is "Succeed in Sports, Lead in Life".

“A free clinic such as this will give young female athletes the chance to interact with female athletic role models on the collegiate level," NJCU head women's basketball coach Alice DeFazio said. "As an institution, we are happy to be able to provide this positive experience.”

Participants will have the opportunity to hone their basketball skills while competing in a number of different contests and games. For more information please call (201) 200-3301 or (201) 200-3317.

Originally begun in 1987, National Girls and Women In Sports Day has evolved into a day to call attention to the positive influence of sports participation, to acknowledge past and present sports achievements, and to advance the struggle for equality and access for women in sports.
