In his 21st season at the helm of the NJCU men's basketball program, Charles Brown became only the 41st coach in the history of NCAA Division III and the second in the history of the NJAC to reach the 400-win plateau following a 66-64 victory over Rutgers-Camden on February 1. A 1965 graduate of NJCU, Brown has coached close to 600 games for his alma mater, compiling a 400-178 record as of February 1. The fourth coach to reach the 400-win milestone in Division III this season, he is one of just 24 active coaches with as many career victories. Brown is only the second men's basketball coach in the history of the New Jersey Athletic Conference to win 400 games in a career. Only Ollie Geltson, who won 429 games combined at NJCU and Montclair State from 1960-1991, has captured more victories in league history. Ironically, Geltson served as Brown’s collegiate coach at NJCU during his playing career. |
