Rutgers-Camden earned a bid to the 2003 NCAA Division III Women's
Basketball Tournament, while Kean, Richard Stockton, Montclair State and
Ramapo all earned bids to the 2003 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Women's Tournament.
Ramapo and Montclair State captured bids to the 2003 NCAA Division III
Men's Tournament, while NJCU and Richard Stockton garnered selections to
the 2003 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Men's Tournament. In all, a remarkable nine NJAC
basketball teams earned postseason bids following the 2002-03 regular
season.
The 2002-03 NJAC Women's Basketball Champion, Rutgers-Camden earned the
league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Scarlet Raptors will
travel to Gwynedd Valley, PA to face Gwynedd Mercy in first round action
on March 5.
Four NJAC schools were awarded bids to the 2003 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Women's
Tournament. In first round action, third-seeded Kean will host
sixth-seeded Ramapo, while fourth-seeded Richard Stockton hosts
fifth-seeded Montclair State. First round ECAC Tournament games are
scheduled for March 5. The tournament bracket match-ups assure that the
NJAC will have at least two teams in the 2002-03 ECAC Metro NY/NJ Final
Four.
On the men's side, NJAC Men's Tournament Champion Montclair State earned
the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and was awarded a first
round home game. The Red Hawks will host Elizabethtown in first round
action on March 6. League regular season champion and tournament runner-up
Ramapo received an NCAA Pool C at-large berth in addition to a first round
bye. The Roadrunners will host the winner of the CCNY vs. USMMA-Kings
Point game on March 8.
Two additional NJAC men's teams were awarded ECAC Tournament bids as
third-seeded NJCU will host sixth-seed Old Westbury, while fifth-seeded
Richard Stockton will travel to Purchase, NY to face fourth-seeded
Manhattanville. Both first round games are scheduled for March 5.
