RUTGERS-CAMDEN NAMES DEAN DIRECTOR OF
ATHLETICS AND RECREATIONAL SERVICES

FORMER RECREATION DIRECTOR SELECTED AS NEW
LEADER OF SCARLET RAPTOR ATHLETIC PROGRAM

Rutgers-Camden University Provost Roger Dennis announced on April 22 that Jeff Dean has been elevated to the position of Director of Athletics and Recreational Services.

Dean took over as interim athletic director following the retirement of Ed Cialella in December, 2002. Prior to that, he had served Rutgers-Camden in a variety of capacities.

Dean started a 10-month assignment as Coordinator of Intramurals and Recreational Services in 1995,
taking over program development and implementation. At the time, he also served as the Scarlet Raptor head baseball coach. With the program's expansion and facility development, Dean accepted an administrative promotion to a full-time, 12-month position as Coordinator of Intramurals and Recreational Services in 1998. He stepped down as the baseball coach to devote his full attention to further developing the intramural and recreation programs while working to enhance the Rutgers-Camden athletic facilities. He was promoted to Assistant Director of Recreational Services in 1999.

Dean was an All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference pitcher at Bridgewater (VA) College, where he received his B.S. in Health and Physical Education. He received his Masters in Educational Administration from Salisbury State, while also serving as assistant baseball coach. He served as the Rutgers-Camden baseball coach from 1994-98, a tenure which included back-to-back 15 win seasons.

Dean resides in Haddon Heights with his wife Kate and sons Jack and Andrew.
