ROWAN'S SCHWARTZ NAMED NCBWA DIVISION III
MID-ATLANTIC REGION PITCHER OF THE YEAR

NATIONAL COLLEGIATE BASEBALL WRITERS ASSOCIATION


Rowan University sophomore pitcher Josh Schwartz has been named the 2003 NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Schwartz was instrumental in the Profs' overall season record of 31-10. He also helped Rowan capture the 2003 NJAC Championship and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Statistically, he posted a 10-0 record for the Profs, including a victory in the NCAA Regionals. Schwartz finished seventh overall in the NJAC with a 2.68 earned run average.

The 2003 NJAC Pitcher of the year, he currently ranks tied for seventh in the country in overall victories. In 14 appearances, the southpaw struck out 83 batters in 90.2 innings of work. He led the NJAC in games started, innings pitched and strikeouts.
