With the Cougars 3-0
victory over Arcadia on October 4, Kean head volleyball coach
Bridget White became just the 39th Division III women’s
volleyball head coach to record her 300th career victory.
In her 16th season at the helm of the Kean program, White owns a
300-215 career record. Her squads have
competed in seven
New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship games during her
years at the helm, capturing five titles. They have also received a
pair of NCAA Division III National Tournament berths and have been
invited to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in
1991, 1999 and 2000. Overall, White's clubs have posted a .588
winning percentage.
In 1999 and 2000,
Kean won 40 matches, and took part in back-to-back postseason
appearances for just the fourth time in school history. Over the
course of averaging more than 19 victories per season, White has
developed 30 All-NJAC selections, a pair of NJAC Players of the Year
and two NJAC Rookies of the Year, as well as two all-region players.
A teacher and a
student of the game, White competed in the AAU National
Championships from 1980 through 1984, and currently holds USA
Volleyball Level II coaching accreditation. She climbed atop the
200-win plateau in just her 11th season of coaching, and was named
NJAC Coach of the Year in 1989, 1990, 1993 and 1994. In addition to
her head coaching duties, White serves as the student-athlete
liaison for the athletic department to KU STARS, Kean's academic
support group for student-athletes.
In 1985, White
earned a bachelor of arts degree in physical education from Brooklyn
College, where she helped the Kingswomen volleyball squad to
national Top 10 rankings in 1983 and 1984.
She served as
an assistant volleyball coach at Smith College for two seasons while
earning her master's degree in exercise and sports science in 1988. |
