MONTCLAIR'S SARAH LEVINE TO BE FEATURED IN
SPORTS ILLUSTRATED'S  "FACES IN THE CROWD"

SENIOR FIELD HOCKEY FORWARD TO BE HIGHLIGHTED IN OCTOBER 6 ISSUE

Montclair State field hockey senior Sarah Levine will be featured in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the October 6 issue of Sports Illustrated.

Levine is the third Red Hawk athlete in the past year to make the issue's section. Women's soccer goalkeeper Stephanie Romanko was featured in a December 2002 issue, while NCAA champion wrestler Rami Ratel appeared in the April issue of this year.

Levine made the October 6 issue for her heroic effort as Montclair State upset then-No. 1 ranked The College of New Jersey, 4-3, in double overtime at Sprague Field on September 13. Levine scored the final three goals as the Red Hawks rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Lions for just the second time in the last 40 meetings between the teams. The victory catapulted MSU into the Top 10 in the STX/NFCHA Division III national poll.

Trailing 3-1 with just under three minute remaining, Levine, who was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 14, scored to cut the TCNJ lead to one and then tied the game with 38 seconds left. In the second overtime, she scored the game winner as she knocked in a rebound, sending the MSU bench and fans into a frenzy.

As of October 6, Levine ranks second on the team in goals (8) and points (20) and the Red Hawks are ranked 12th in Division III.
