ROWAN'S SOLOMEN NAMED NACWAA NCAA DIVISION III ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR


PROF ATHLETIC DIRECTOR TO BE HONORED IN AUSTIN, TX

 


The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators has named Rowan athletic director Joy Solomen as its 2003 NCAA Division III Administrator of the Year. Solomen will receive her award at NACWAA's 24th annual Fall Forum to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, TX, October 11-14.

Now in her 17th year at Rowan, Solomen became director of athletics in 1993 after previously serving as director of women's athletics from 1986-1993. She currently directs an NCAA Division III program of 18 varsity teams.

Solomen has held leadership positions on the state, regional, and national levels. On the state level, she has served as President of the New Jersey Athletic Conference. On the regional level, she was a member of the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee and served as regional chair for a period of seven years. Nationally, she was elected Chair of the NCAA Division III Management Council at the 2001 NCAA Convention and served as Vice Chair in 2000.

Her most recent awards came when the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors of Athletics honored her as the Division III Athletics Director of the Year for the Northeast Region in 2001. In addition, she was honored by the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey as its 2002 Administrator of the Year.
