Following
255 regular season matches, the 2002 New Jersey Athletic Conference
Women's Volleyball Tournament is set. Six teams will compete over the
course of the four days with the winner earning the league's automatic
bid to the NCAA Tournament.
One first round match-up on Tuesday, November 5 will feature
sixth-seeded defending conference champion Kean (19-17) traveling to
Glassboro to face third-seeded Rowan (24-8). The winner of the
Kean-Rowan match will travel to Pomona on Thursday, November 7 to face
second-seeded Richard Stockton (19-11).
On the other side of the bracket, fifth-seeded William Paterson (18-10)
will travel to Jersey City to face fourth-seeded New Jersey City (18-7).
The match will mark the first ever home NJAC Tournament match for New
Jersey City. The first round match-up will also represent the third
meeting between the Gothic Knights and Pioneers in a little over two
weeks. The winner of the William Paterson-NJCU match will travel to
Newark on November 7 to face top-seeded Rutgers-Newark. The Scarlet
Raiders earned the top seed and home court advantage throughout the
tournament by virtue of a 7-1 regular season record and a tie-breaking
3-2 head-to-head victory over Richard Stockton.
The
championship match will take place at the site of the highest remaining
seed on Saturday, November 9 at a time to be determined by the host
school.
