After opening the NJAC season with a 3-0 win over conference newcomer Richard Stockton on September 30, the Profs dropped a 2-1 overtime decision on the road to rival TCNJ on October 4.

Rowan responded with three straight league victories including a 2-1 win at William Paterson on October 20; a 2-1 victory at over Kean on November 1; and the title clinching 3-1 home victory over Montclair State, who entered the contest with a perfect 4-0 NJAC record.

The 2003 title marks the fourth NJAC championship in the history of the Rowan field hockey program. The Profs also earned conference crowns in 1998, 2000 and 2002.
