TCNJ'S HENDERSON CAPTURES HER 250TH CAREER
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACHING VICTORY

REACHES MILESTONE WITH 62-55 WIN OVER RAMAPO ON JANUARY 24

The College of New Jersey's head women's basketball coach Dawn Henderson captured her 250th career coaching victory following a 62-55 victory over Ramapo on January 24. Now in her 15th season of coaching, the win over the Roadrunners improved her overall career record to 250-125.

The 2003-04 campaign marks her 11th season at TCNJ. Under her guidance, the Lions have advanced to the NCAA Second Round four times and the Elite Eight once. In addition, she guided the Lions to the program's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Championship in 1996 and the program's first NJAC Championship in 2001.

The 1998-99 campaign was a banner one for Henderson's Lions as they established several new program records, among them being a 24-0 regular-season mark and a streak of 25 consecutive wins. TCNJ went 25-2 on the year and by season’s end, had earned the program’s seventh NCAA berth and was one of just three programs nationally on any level to have gone undefeated during the regular-season. Henderson was named the NJAC Coach of the Year, while the New Jersey Collegiate Basketball Coaches’ Association (NJCBCA) tapped the Lions’ coaching staff as the best in the state.

During the 2000-01 season, the Lions earned the program’s eighth NCAA Tournament appearance and advanced to their first-ever NCAA Elite Eight. TCNJ went 25-4 that year and the team finished 18-0 in the NJAC to claim the regular-season first-place spot for the second time in program history. TCNJ also garnered its first-ever NJAC Championship with a 63-46 win over Richard Stockton. For her leadership, Henderson was honored as the 2000-01 WBCA District III Regional Coach of the Year.

Before arriving at TCNJ, Henderson previously served two seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Worcester State (MA) College, followed by two seasons at Drew University. Entering the 2003-04 season, she owned an overall career record of 241-119 which ranked her 44th by wins and 46th by win percentage (.669) in Division III.

In addition to her role as head women's basketball coach, she also serves as TCNJ's senior women's administrator and as associate athletic director.
