Tickets are $35.00 and can be obtained by calling Tom Mitchell at (856) 933-0594. After taking over the Raptor program for the 1999-2000 season and struggling to a 5-19 record, Trakimas engineered a remarkable turnaround and led the Camden to a 17-10 record and the first of three straight berths in the New Jersey Athletic Conference playoffs. That run was capped last season when the Raptors went 22-7 and captured the first NJAC title in Rutgers-Camden history, earning the school's first NCAA tournament berth. Camden won its first NCAA game in school history with a 63-48 victory at Gwynedd Mercy on March 5, before suffering a narrow 83-80 second-round loss at Marymount University on March 8. "I am honored to be inducted and to be a part of an elite group with the South Jersey Basketball Club Hall of Fame," Trakimas said. "Being inducted as a coach represents a group of individuals who share in this honor, including the student-athletes, assistant coaches, and administrators who all contribute to building successful programs. Fulfilling my dream of coaching at the collegiate level at Rutgers University has been a challenge that, without an outstanding staff of assistant coaches, talented athletes, and administrative support, our goal of capturing the first NJAC Championship in the history of the institution would not have been attainable." Trakimas has produced successful programs at every level, including a 250-67 career record in scholastic basketball. Her high school teams captured six conference titles, three South Jersey sectional titles and a pair of state championships. Trakimas attended Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), where she played three years on the varsity basketball team, including one season as captain. She also won two letters in varsity lacrosse. She received her B.A. as a certified teacher of Health and Physical Education in May 1983. She earned her mathematics certification in September 1984. In June 1996 she received her M.A. in Health and Physical Education and a supervisory certificate from The College of New Jersey. |
