NJAC BASEBALL TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD AT TRENTON'S
WATERFRONT PARK AND LAKEWOOD'S FIRSTENERGY PARK

TOP FOUR REGULAR-SEASON FINISHERS TO PARTICIPATE AT TWO PROFESSIONAL PARKS

The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced today that the 2004 NJAC Baseball Tournament will be held at both Waterfront Park in Trenton, NJ and FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, NJ on May 7-9. Waterfront Park serves as the home of the Trenton Thunder, the Double A Affiliate of the New York Yankees organization. FirstEnergy Park serves as the home of the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Single A Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to conduct our tournament at two of the top professional ballparks in the nation,” NJAC Commissioner Terry Small said.  “Our current tournament format necessitates a playing field with lights, and we are extremely thankful that both the Trenton Thunder and Lakewood BlueClaws have provided an opportunity for our student-athletes to compete in two outstanding baseball facilities.”

The top four conference regular season finishers will advance to the double-elimination tournament with the winner receiving the conference’s automatic qualification to the NCAA National Championship Tournament.
Rowan University is the defending NJAC baseball champion, having captured the 2003 conference title with a 9-2 win over Kean University in last year’s championship game.

Tournament play will begin on Friday, May 7 at
Waterfront Park with first round games taking place at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The tournament will then shift to FirstEnergy Park on Saturday, May 8 with games taking place at 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The championship game of the 2004 NJAC Tournament will take place back at Waterfront Park on Sunday, May 9 with a game at 1:00 PM. If necessary, a second game between the same two teams will be held at 3:30 PM.

Tickets will be sold at the entrance to each stadium each day and will entitle the holder to admission to all games played on that day. Ticket prices are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students, senior citizens and children.
