 STOCKTON'S MARINO NAMED A CoSIDA's
ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

FIVE-TIME ALL-AMERICAN BECOMES FIRST OSPREY TO RECEIVE NATIONAL HONOR

Richard Stockton senior pole vaulter Kim Marino has been named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Women's Track/Cross Country Team. Marino became Stockton's first CoSIDA Academic All-American with her selection to the Third Team. The honorees were chosen and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Marino accumulated a 3.485 grade point average and graduated from Stockton on May 14 with a bachelor's degree in Historical Studies.

Marino was a two-time Academic All-District II choice who earned First Team honors this season and Second Team kudos last year. Her selection as Stockton's initial Academic All-American is another first for Marino, who was the College's inaugural female national champion and first female All-American. Marino won the NCAA Division III indoor and outdoor national pole vault titles in 2003, setting meet records both times. She ended her career as a five-time All-American, four-time NJAC champion in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault, and two-time Stockton Female Athlete of the Year.

In addition to her outstanding grade point average, Marino was listed in Who's Who Among American College Students. She also was recognized in The National Dean's List and was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta history honor society.

The Academic All-America Teams program annually honors 816 male and female student-athletes who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom.  Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, the College Sports Information Directors of America. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
