NJAC WOMEN'S AND MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS ANNOUNCED


MSU'S WILLIAMS AND TCNJ'S HUGGLER NAMED ATHLETES OF THE YEAR


The College of New Jersey’s junior sprinter Erika Huggler and Montclair State University freshman sprinter Tony Williams were named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Female and Male Athletes of the Year respectively for the 2004-05 season. Their selections highlighted the 2004-05 NJAC Indoor Track & Field Women’s and Men’s all-conference teams which were announced on February 22.


The New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field all-conference selections were based on the results of the conference championship meet which took place at the New York Armory on February 20. First-place finishers in each event receive first-team all-conference honors, while each event’s immediate runner-up is named second-team all-conference. The third place finisher in each championship event receives honorable mention all-conference accolades.

 

Individually, Huggler won the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.56. She also was a member of the Lions’ 4x200 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams that placed first with respective winning times of 1:46.40 and 4:06.60.

 

Williams won both the 55 meter dash and the 200 meter dash with respective winning times of 6.47 and 22.07. He also was a member of the Red Hawk championship 4x200 meter relay team that posted a winning time of 1:30.38.

 

Richard Stockton senior Jessica Caccamo was selected as the Outstanding Female Field Athlete of the Year after winning the shot put with a mark of 12.46 meters. Caccamo also finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 13.87 meters. Rowan junior Robert Godfrey and Richard Stockton junior Jake Owens were named Co-Outstanding Male Field Athletes of the Year. Godfrey won the shot put with an NJAC Championship record throw of 16.71 meters, while Owens took the pole vault with a leap of 4.64 meters.

 

Montclair State senior Travis Yancey and Ramapo freshman Christina Gray were named the Male and Female Outstanding Track Athletes of the Year respectively. Yancey won the 400 meters with a time of 48.34 and was a member of the Red Hawk winning 4x200 meter relay team which posted a time of 1:30.38. Gray took the 400 meters in a time of 57.98.

 

First-year TCNJ head coach Eric Mobley was selected as the NJAC Men’s Coach of the Year after guiding both the Lions’ men’s and women’s teams to their eighth consecutive conference crowns. Kean University sixth-year head coach Shelley Hollingsworth was named Women’s Coach of the Year after guiding her Cougar women’s and men’s squads to fourth and second place finishes respectively.
