New York City Tech guard Camille Manning poured in 11 of her game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter to rally the City University of New York Athletic Conference squad to a 65-60 win over the New Jersey Athletic Conference seniors in the fourth annual CUNY-NJAC Senior All-Star Challenge in The Golden Dome. Manning, who earned the CUNYAC MVP trophy, had a double-double with 10 rebounds and added six assists and three steals.
Staten Island center Jacclyn Rock, who finished with a game-high 15 rebounds and 10 points, hit a jumper from the right of the lane with two minutes left to knot the score at 60-60 before Manning drained four-of-four free throws to up the New Yorkers’ lead to 64-60 with 33 seconds left. CSI guard Stephanie Iosue who finished with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and a game-high six steals, made the first of two free throws with five ticks left to cap the scoring.
Rowan’s Kami Bernardo and The College of New Jersey’s Theresa DiMedio shared NJAC MVP honors. Bernardo tallied a team-high 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and four steals while DiMedio connected on five-of-six three-point field goals to finish with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists.
NYC Tech’s Nicola Hall hauled down a dozen rebounds to help the CUNY all-stars control the boards, 57-49. John Jay’s Latrice Blakely added eight points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
For the NJAC, Rowan’s Stephanie Finke collected 10 rebounds and blocked a game-high three shots while TCNJ’s Sofia Ojeda contributed a team-high six assists.
The New Yorkers posted their first win in the series which began in 2002. |
