JENNINGS NAMED HEAD WOMEN'S AND MEN'S
CROSS COUNTRY COACH AT TCNJ

FORMER HAMILTON COLLEGE STANDOUT TO LEAD BOTH LION PROGRAMS

The College of New Jersey athletic department has selected Philip Jennings to serve as the new head coach of its women's and men’s cross country programs. Jennings will replace Steve Dolan, who resigned in August of 2004 to pursue a coaching position at Princeton University.

Jennings served the past two seasons as the graduate assistant coach for the Lions in both cross country and track and field. A 1999 graduate of Hamilton College, he possesses a masters of education degree which he received from TCNJ in May.

Jennings came to TCNJ in the fall of 2003 after serving as an assistant coach for Division I Rider University for one season. While at Rider, he served as the distance coach for the Bronc women's and men's  programs and also served as an intern for the athletic department responsible for academic enhancement.

A former team captain for the Hamilton College cross country and track and field programs, Jennings earned 11 varsity letters competing in college, while also excelling academically as a Dean’s List student. A former residential advisor and campus tour guide at Hamilton, Jennings also holds a Level One certification from the USATF Coaches Education School.

An economics major at Hamilton, Jennings worked for three years at Zurich Scudder Investments (Boston, MA) following his graduation before pursuing a career in coaching.

“We are very pleased that Phil is taking over the reins of our cross country programs and we expect that he will continue to build on the tradition of success that both the women's and men's programs have enjoyed here at TCNJ," Lion athletic director Kevin McHugh said.
