BRANDES NAMED NAMED HEAD WOMEN'S TENNIS
COACH AT MONTCLAIR STATE

FORMER ASSISTANT AT DREW NAMED NEW LEADER OF RED HAWK PROGRAM

The Montclair State University Department of Athletics has announced that Jeff Brandes has been named the new head coach of the Red Hawk women’s tennis program.

Brandes comes to
Montclair State after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Drew University for both the men’s and women’s squads. Last season, the Rangers’ women’s team put together their best season in history going 11-0 during the regular season and capturing the Freedom Conference championship. Meanwhile the men’s team posted a 12-6 mark and won their fourth consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference title.

A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Brandes was a four-year letterwinner with the Rams before graduating with his degree in Marketing in 1987. He was also the Tennis Director at Murray Hill Health and Racquet for the last 4 years.

“Brian McLaughlin did a tremendous job as our head women's tennis coach for the past 15 years as evidenced by his record (McLaughlin posted a 109-65-1 record),” said Gera. “Now that Brian has been assigned administrative duties at the university, we are very pleased to have Jeff Brandes join our coaching staff.  Jeff brings a wealth of tennis experience, both coaching and teaching, to this position, and we are confident that the program will continue to be successful under his leadership.”
