TCNJ CAPTURES THE 2004 NJAC
FIELD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP


LIONS EARN LEAGUE'S FIRST EVER AUTOMATIC BID TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT


With a 7-0 victory in their final conference contest of the year on October 23, The College of New Jersey captured the 2004 New Jersey Athletic Conference Field Hockey Championship. The win propelled the Lions to their 19th NJAC crown and their first since 2001. The victory also earned TCNJ the NJAC's first ever automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

The Lions improved to 10-5 overall and captured the seven-team league crown with a 5-1 conference mark. In the 23-year history of the conference, TCNJ has won 19 league titles, including 16 straight from 1982 to 1997, while the remaining four conference titles belong to Rowan University.

The bracket for the 2004 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament will be announced on the night of November 7. First round action will begin on Wednesday, November 10 at campus sites. The semifinals and championship game will be hosted by Westfield State College in Westfield, MA on November 19-20.
