The College of New Jersey’s senior forward Colleen Stamler and Rowan senior back Rhonda Bennett have been named the 2004 NJAC Field Hockey Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively.

A three-time NJAC all-conference selection, Stamler currently leads the conference in both total points (36) and total goals (15). A 2003 NFHCA South Atlantic All-Region first-team selection, Stamler has captured NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors seven times in her career, including two times in 2004. The NJAC Rookie of the Year in 2001, Stamler has led the Lions in scoring each season since her sophomore year of 2002.

A two-time NJAC all-conference selection, Bennett tallied 23 points in 65 career games played for the Profs. In 2004, she was a key member of Rowan’s defensive unit which held its opponents to 1.82 goals per game, while limiting its NJAC opponents to only 1.50 goals per contest.

For the fifth-time in her career, TCNJ head coach Sharon Pfluger has been selected as the NJAC Coach of the Year. Now in her 20th year at the helm of the Lion program, she has posted a career record at TCNJ of 358-42-5 while guiding the Lions to seven national championships. The 2004 NJAC Champion Lions will face Springfield in the second round of the NCAA National Championship Tournament at Salisbury, MD on November 13. The game will mark the 20th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for TCNJ under Pfluger.
