For the
second consecutive year, the NJAC dominated the CUNY-NJAC Challenge,
posting a record of 16-3 in the 19 contests played on December 11. In what is
believed to be the only event of its kind in NCAA Division III, the 2004
CUNY-NJAC Women's and Men's Basketball Challenge saw 38 NJAC and CUNY
women's and men's teams in action at six
different sites within New York City on the same day. The 2004
Challenge featured 19 games played at six different CUNY campuses including Lehman College in the Bronx; Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn; City
College of New York, Hunter College and Baruch College in Manhattan; and
the College of Staten Island.
In the two-year history of the Challenge,
the NJAC has posted a mark of 33-4 against its neighbor conference.
The two conferences also jointly conduct a senior women's and men's
all-star game at the conclusion of each season. The 2004-05 NJAC-CUNY
Women's and Men's All-Star Games will be held on March 23 at Rutgers
University-Newark's Golden Dome Athletic Center.
The match-ups for the 2004 Challenge were based on the regular
season finish of each conference team during the 2003 season. The 2004
CUNY-NJAC Challenge events were as follows:
