ROWAN'S ACCORSI NAMED TRI-STATE COACH OF THE YEAR
BY THE MAXWELL FOOTBALL CLUB


PROF HEAD COACH TO BE HONORED AT 69TH ANNUAL BANQUET ON MACH 3


Rowan University head football coach Jay Accorsi has been selected Tri-State Coach of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club. Accorsi will be honored at the Maxwell Football Club’s 69th Annual Awards banquet on March 3 at the Atlantic City Harrah’s Hotel.

 

He is the eighth recipient of the award. In four seasons as head coach, Accorsi has guided Rowan to a 38-9 record. The Profs have won three conference championships and they have made three appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament during Accorsi’s campaign. He has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Coach of the Year three times (2005, 2004 and 2002).

 

This season, Accorsi directed Rowan to an 11-2 overall record and its 15th NJAC Championship. Rowan made its 12th appearance in the national tournament and advanced to the semifinals for the second consecutive year. In 2004, the Profs had a 10-3 record, captured the conference championship and reached the national semifinals.  Rowan finished the 2003 season with a 7-3 overall record. In 2002, Accorsi guided the Profs to the conference title and the NCAA Championship Tournament.

 

Also in attendance at the Maxwell Football Club Annual Awards banquet will be Maxwell Award winner Vince Young, Texas, College Player of the Year; Bert Bell winner, Shaun Alexander, Seattle Seahawks, Pro Player of the Year; and Joe Paterno, Penn State, and Tony Dungy, Indianapolis Colts, as the College and Pro Coaches of the Year.
