RICHARD STOCKTON'S JULIEN CAPTURES HER 300TH CAREER
SOFTBALL COACHING VICTORY

REACHES MILESTONE WITH A CONFERENCE VICTORY OVER NJCU

With a 14-2 NJAC road win in the first game of a doubleheader at NJCU on April 1, Richard Stockton head softball coach Val Julien recorded her 300th career victory at the helm of the Osprey program. Julien, the longest tenured softball coach in the conference in her 20th season, ranks 45th among active NCAA Division III coaches with 301 career victories.

Julien became the head softball coach at Stockton in 1987 after serving three seasons as an assistant coach under Dot Hirschfeld. She has guided the Ospreys to three 20-win seasons (2000, 2003, 2005), including a school-record 25 victories in 2005. Under Julien's direction, Stockton has made four ECAC Tournament appearances (1990, 1997, 2003, 2005).

She posted her first winning season at Stockton in 1990 when she led her squad to a 19-15 mark and a third-place finish in the ECAC tournament. In arguably the toughest conference in the nation, Stockton has won NJAC tournament games in 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1996.

In addition to her duties as head softball coach, she also works full-time for the Stockton Office of Athletics and Recreation as an evening and weekend athletics coordinator. She helps organize the College’s yearly volunteer effort at the ShopRite LPGA Classic as well.
