 KEAN'S ACKER RECORDS HER 100TH
CAREER SOFTBALL COACHING VICTORY

REACHES MILESTONE WITH A 20-1 ROAD VICTORY OVER BARUCH

With a 20-1 non-conference road win over Baruch on March 31, Kean head softball coach Margie Acker earned her 100th career coaching victory. In just her seventh season at the helm of the Cougar program, she ranks second on the school's all-time career win list in the 33-year history of the Kean program.

A former outfielder and catcher for The College of the New Jersey, she was an All-American outfielder for the Lions' who was instrumental in TCNJ's (then Trenton State College) run to the 1992 NCAA Division III Championship. Acker was also named first team All-NJAC that season after batting .438 and stealing 21 bases in 25 attempts for the Lions. As a junior, she batted .425 and committed just one error in 31 games before having to miss the NCAA Tournament after suffering a broken arm late in the season. In addition to being an accomplished outfielder, Acker also spent time as the Lions' catcher. In four years of collegiate competition, her Lion teams compiled a 92-9 overall record.

Following her playing career, Acker served as an assistant coach at Division I Rider University in 1997-98. That year, the Broncs captured the Northeast Conference Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Arizona. Prior to taking over the head coaching duties at Kean, she served as an assistant coach at Muhlenberg College in 1998-99. In her one season with the Pennsylvania school, the Mules finished second in the Centennial Conference.

Acker earned a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education with an emphasis in corporate fitness from Trenton State College in 1993.
