WILLIAM PATERSON'S COHEN RECORDS HER 500TH
CAREER SOFTBALL COACHING VICTORY

REACHES MILESTONE WITH AN 11-0 CONFERENCE WIN OVER NJCU

With an 11-0 win over conference rival NJCU on April 9, William Paterson head softball coach Hallie Cohen earned her 500th career victory. The ninth winningest coach in Division III history who owns a career coaching record of 501-300-3, Cohen also is the most successful coach in William Paterson history with a record of 308-155-2.

In 12 seasons at the helm of the Pioneer program, she has guided Paterson to three New Jersey Athletic Conference championships (1999, 2003, 2005) and two NCAA Division III East Regional titles (2001, 2005). She won her 300th game at William Paterson on March 16 when her team shutout Bridgewater State (MA), 5-0.

“I’m not into the numbers and the accolades, but it’s nice to know we’ve done a great job here with our student-athletes, and our student-athletes are a reflection of the first-class program we run here," Cohen said. “It’s an honor. I’m humbled by the reaction from our parents and our players. I’m really appreciative of everything William Paterson University and my assistant coaches have done.”

Cohen has also been recognized as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)/Louisville Slugger East Regional Coach of the Year twice (2001 and 2005), in addition to being named the NJAC Coach of the Year on three occasions (1999, 2001 and 2005).

Recently, Cohen was selected to be the head coach of the Israeli National Softball Team which will begin its efforts to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in June.

“I’m proud to be a part of this, this is the third milestone our senior class has been a part of,” said senior right fielder
Danielle Patlen, who has helped Cohen win her 400th overall game in 2003 and her 300th game at Paterson earlier this year. “It says a lot about her coaching and it shows all of the hard work she’s put in. We’re all really proud of her. Hopefully she reaches more milestones in the future.”
