TCNJ'S BOYD & MSU'S GONZALEZ HONORED AT THE
SEVENTH ANNUAL NJAC AWARDS BRUNCH


PAIR HIGHLIGHT A RECORD TURNOUT AT THE HYATT REGENCY IN PRINCETON 


The College of New Jersey senior Brittny Boyd and Montclair State University senior Gian Paul Gonzalez were presented with the 2005-06 New Jersey Athletic Conference Female and Male Athlete of the Year awards respectively at the Seventh Annual NJAC Awards Brunch held at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton on June 4. Their selections highlighted the event which saw a record number of student-athletes receive honors for their athletic and academic accomplishments throughout the 2005-06 academic year.

The only two-time NJAC Athlete of the Year selection in the history of the conference, Boyd is a 19-time All-American and a five-time NCAA National Champion in Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field. She also is a four-time all-conference selection in women’s soccer who earned All-American honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2005. In 2006, she was named the Most Outstanding Athlete at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships after winning the long jump (5.53 meters), the 55-meter dash (7.36) and the 200 meters (25.46). At the 2006 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, she was a member of the Lion champion 4x100 meter relay team (47.95), while placing second in the 100 meters (12.34. During the 2005 women's soccer season, she tallied 15 goals and three assists for 33 points while helping to propel the Lions to the NCAA Tournament Championship Match. 

Gonzalez earned All-American honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches after leading the NJAC and ranking fourth in all of Division III in scoring with an average of 27.0 points per game. In 2005-06, he  led the conference in minutes played per game (37.61), while ranking second in the league in both field goal percentage (.573) and free throw percentage (.883). A three-time all-conference selection, Gonzalez garnered Player of the Year honors from the NJAC, the ECAC and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
