RECORD TWENTY-TWO STUDENT-ATHLETE NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE
IN FIELD HOCKEY FOR THE 2005 SEASON


NOLAN NAMED THE CONFERENCE'S FIRST EVER GOALTENDER OF THE YEAR


A league-record 22 student-athletes have earned all-conference honors in field hockey for the 2005 season. All selections were determined by a vote of the league’s seven head coaches. 

Montclair State senior forward Alexandria Kelly was named the league’s Attack Player of the Year. A three-time NJAC Player of the Week selection, Kelly currently leads the conference in points (37) and assists (11), and is tied for the league lead in goals (13). Kelly and the Red Hawks received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. Montclair will host Washington & Lee in an NCAA first round contest on November 9.

Rowan senior midfielder Elizabeth Unger was named the NJAC Midfielder of the Year for the second consecutive season after leading the Profs to the 2005 NJAC Championship. A two-time all-conference selection, Unger currently ranks second in the conference in assists (10) and fourth in the league in points (26). Unger and the Profs, recipients of the conference’s automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament, will open NCAA play on November 12 with a second round contest in Salisbury, MD.

A two-time all-conference selection, TCNJ junior back Meg Hess
was named NJAC Defensive Player of the Year. The 2003 NJAC Rookie of the Year helped lead TCNJ to its 25th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth via an at-large selection. Hess and the Lions will begin NCAA play on November 9 when they will host Keene State (NH) in a first round game. Hess currently ranks third in the NJAC in assists (9) and is tied for eighth in the league in points (21).

Richard Stockton junior Caitlin Nolan was the recipient of the conference’s newly established Goaltender of the Year Award. The Osprey net-minder currently leads the NJAC in total saves (199) and saves per game (11.71).

TCNJ freshman forward Jennifer Lubin was named NJAC Rookie of the Year. In 18 games played for the Lions, Lubin has recorded six goals and two assists for 14 points.

After leading Rowan to its fifth NJAC Championship in school history and its third conference crown in the past four years, Prof head coach Penny Kempf was selected as NJAC Coach of the Year. Now in her eighth year at the helm of the Rowan program, Kempf has posted a record of 127-27 in a career highlighted by a NCAA Division III National Championship in 2002.
