MONTCLAIR'S GONZALEZ FEATURED IN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED'S
"FACES IN THE CROWD"

RED HAWK SENIOR FORWARD TO APPEAR IN DECEMBER 19 ISSUE

Montclair State senior forward Gian Paul Gonzalez is featured among the "Faces in the Crowd" in the December 19 issue of Sports Illustrated.

Gonzalez is the fifth MSU athlete to be featured in the magazine. He joins Stephanie Romanko (2002), Rami Ratel (2003), Sarah Levine (2003) and Cathy Homiek (2004).

Gonzalez earned the honor following his 40-point effort in MSU's 89-82 victory over New Jersey City on November 22. In that game, Gonzalez was 11-of-17 from the field and set a school record going 18-of-18 from the free throw line. He became the first Montclair player to score 40 points in a game since Clem Tennaro had 47 in February, 1956.

Gonzalez has been named NJAC Player of the Week twice this season and was recently named ECAC Metro Player of the Week and to the D3Hoops.com "Team of the Week".

Gonzalez currently leads the NJAC in scoring at 29.0 points per game and free throw percentage (.904). He is also second in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and third in field goal percentage.

Gonzalez is also 25 points shy of becoming the 23rd player in MSU history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
