RANERO NAMED HEAD WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH AT ROWAN

FORMER PROF HEAD COACH TO EMBARK ON SECOND STINT IN GLASSBORO

Rowan athletic director Joy Solomen has named Libby Ranero as the school's new head women’s volleyball coach. Previously, Ranero coached the Profs from 1995-98. In four seasons at the helm of the Prof program, she compiled a record of 41-62 while guiding her squad to three appearances in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tournament (1996-98).

“It ‘s great to have Libby return to the position of head volleyball coach,” said Solomen. “She was instrumental in the revitalization of our program during her previous tenure and I am excited to have her at the helm again. We are fortunate to have someone of her abilities to lead our program and continue its successful climb to the next level.”

“I am excited to be back, it feels like coming home” stated Ranero. “The program has really developed a reputation of competitive excellence and postseason success. I’m anxious to build on that.”

After her first stint at Rowan, Ranero was the head volleyball coach and teacher at Westminster Christian School (FL) from 1999-2004. She guided WCS to six straight state playoffs and three elite eight appearances. Her teams were ranked in the Top 10 in the Florida State Poll (as high as eighth in 2000, third in 2002 and fifth in 2003). Six of Ranero’s players were named All-Miami-Dade County first team, one was the 2001 Player of the Year and received All-State second team honors.

Ranero was the assistant women’s volleyball coach at Appalachian State University (NC) from 1993-94 and at Watauga High School (NC) from 1991-92. She was also the Maclay Middle School (FL) volleyball coach for one season (1988).

Ranero graduated from Florida State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in movement science and physical education. Prior to FSU, she attended Miami-Dade South Community College and lettered in volleyball from 1985-86.
