WILLIAM PATERSON'S REINERTSEN NAMED NCAA DIVISION III
NATIONAL CO-HITTER OF THE WEEK


RECOGNIZED BY THE NCBWA FOR PLAY IN WEEK ENDING APRIL 1


William Paterson senior outfielder Don Reinertsen was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Co-Hitter of the Week for the Week ending April 1.

 

Reinertsen was previously named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA), Gotham Baseball Magazine and ECAC Metro Region Player of the Week. The Pioneer outfielder batted .667 (16-24) with eight runs scored, nine RBI, three doubles, two triples and three walks (two intentional) without a single strikeout in 24 at-bats, threw 2.0 innings of relief (two hits, one earned run, one walk, two strikeouts), and was perfect in the field, making eight putouts. 


Reinertsen was a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, a double and a triple in a 15-1 win against SUNY Old Westbury March 26, and also threw an inning of scoreless relief with a walk and a strikeout.  He went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two intentional walks at Richard Stockton March 30 in a 7-7, 12-inning tie. In the first game of a doubleheader at New Jersey City March 31, Reinertsen was a perfect 6-for-6 with three runs scored, four RBI, two doubles, a triple and a stolen base while also throwing an inning of relief (two hits, one earned run, one strikeout) in a 13-7 win, and he was 2-for-5 with a run scored in the nightcap against the Gothic Knights.

 

Reinertsen shared the national honor with Richard Hurd (Rhodes College) and Kyle Sherman (Ohio Wesleyan).
