TCNJ freshman
Jackie Shtemberg is among the 32 individuals selected to compete in the
2007 NCAA Division III Singles Championships at the University of Mary
Washington on May 18-20.
Shtemberg is 26-3 on the year and this past fall was named the NJAC’s
Women’s Tennis Player of the Year as well as the NJAC Rookie of the Year
after a fall campaign that also saw the rookie earn All-America honors in
both singles and doubles at the 2006 ITA National Small College
Championships. Her 26 wins marks just the second time since the 1990-91
season a Lion women’s tennis player has surpassed the 20 wins mark.
Overall on the season, Shtemberg is ranked No. 7 regionally and is now
14-0 in dual meet play at No. 1 singles.
The NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Committee selected individuals and
doubles teams that will compete in the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis
Championships. The individual championships include 32 single players and
16 double teams. Four singles players and four doubles teams are selected
as alternates in the event a player or team becomes injured or
unavailable.
