TCNJ'S KING & CORTLAND'S HAAS NAMED 2007 ECAC SOUTHEAST DIVISION III FOOTBALL PLAYER & ROOKIE OF THE YEAR


PAIR TO BE HONORED AT THE ECAC FOOTBALL AWARDS DINNER ON FEBRUARY 19


The College’s New Jersey’s senior defensive tackle Joe King was named the 2007 ECAC Southeast Division III Player of the Year, while Cortland freshman linebacker Brian Haas was selected as the 2007 ECAC Southeast Division III Rookie of the Year. In total, 22 NJAC players were selected to the 25-man 2007 ECAC Southeast Division III All-Star Team.

King finished the season tied for second in the nation with 28 tackles for a loss (2.4 per game). He also finished third in the nation in sacks with 15 (1.3 per game) for total losses of 125 yards. King was selcted as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honor for his efforts.

Haas led the Red Dragons with 105 tackles and was selected as the NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Year.

TCNJ, Montclair State, and Rowan each had four players selected to the ECAC Southeast team, leading all schools. The ECAC will honor the players and rookies of the year in each division and region on February 19 at the annual Eastern College Football Awards Banquet held in the Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, NJ.
