The U.S.
Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) named
Rowan junior Greg Kuczynski to the 2007 Cross Country All-Academic team.
The Rowan men’s cross country team received All-Academic team honors as
well.
Kuczynski joins 149 other student-athletes receiving the distinction. He
has a 3.932 grade point average (GPA) and is majoring in civil and
environmental engineering at the University. This is the second straight
year he was chosen to the All-Academic team. Student-athletes are eligible
for the award if they have a minimum 3.5 GPA and finish in the top 25
percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.
At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, Kuczynski finished
11th (26:43.29) and was a member of the All-Conference second team. He had
a fourth place finish with a time of 20:17.96 at the CTC Championships. At
the Goucher Classic, he came in eighth (29:02.04). Kuczynski was the
Profs’ top runner at the NCAA Atlantic Regional in 57th place (26:14.9).
Last year, Kuczynski was selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic
All-Area Men’s Cross Country team. He also earned Philadelphia Inquirer
Academic All-Area honors for men’s track and field in 2005.
This is the sixth straight and 12th overall All-Academic honor for the
men’s cross country team. The men had a combined GPA of 3.43 that tied
them for 16th among 99 institutions. For a team to receive All-Academic,
it must have competed and compiled a team score at the NCAA Regional and
have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative GPA.
