KEAN INDUCTS CHARTER CLASS OF CHI ALPHA SIGMA,
THE NATIONAL COLLEGE ATHLETE HONOR SOCIETY


ONE OF ONLY SEVEN NEW JERSEY UNIVERSITIES TO SPONSOR A CHAPTER


The Kean University Department of Athletics inducted its charter class into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, on April 14.

As a part of the 2008 charter induction class, the 19 student-athletes represented 10 different sports, and have passed at least 56 credits with a 3.4 grade point average.

The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University on May 17, 1996, as an honorary college athletic society for recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter winners at the college level. 

Chi Alpha Sigma is composed of 162 colleges and universities representing 38 states.  Kean became the seventh school in New Jersey with a charter, joining Fairleigh Dickinson University, Montclair State University, Monmouth University, Ramapo College, Rutgers University and Seton Hall University.

Kean’s charter class included:  Jennifer Behrens (Women's Soccer), Physical Education and Health Teacher Certification; Shannon Blackburn (Women's Soccer), Early Childhood Education; James Doherty (Men's Soccer), Economics; Stacey Dzvileski (Women's Soccer), Teacher of Students with Disabilities; Tom Eller (Men's Lacrosse), History; Chris Gould (Football), Political Science; Allison Greene (Field Hockey/Lacrosse), Teacher of Students with Disabilities; Ryan Hebron (Track and Field), Recreation Administration; Johanna Hedler (Softball), Early Childhood Education; Katie Hicks (Softball), Teacher of Students with Disabilities; Ebony Jackson (Women's Basketball), Communication Studies; Erin Jones (Track and Field), Early Childhood Education; Konrad Kruczek (Men's Soccer), Physical Education and Health Teacher Certification; Liz Lanigan (Women's Soccer), Teacher of Students with Disabilities; Ashley Lindaberry (Women's Soccer), Elementary Education; Sarah Lyon (Track and Field), Athletic Training; Mike Shymanski (Baseball), Physical Education and Health Teacher Certification; Sara Steinman (Softball), Physical Education and Health Teacher Certification; and Nicole Tahan (Women's Soccer), Media and Film Broadcasting Major.
