HUNTER NAMED INTERIM
MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH AT TCNJ

FORMER LION ASSISTANT TO LEAD LIONS IN 2007-08

The College of New Jersey’s Interim Director of Athletics, John Castaldo has announced the appointment of Matt Hunter as the interim men’s basketball coach at TCNJ.

Hunter replaces John Castaldo, who was named TCNJ’s interim athletic director earlier this summer.

“I am looking forward to serving the College in this capacity for the upcoming year,” Hunters said. Joining the outstanding group of coaches at TCNJ and their tradition of excellence is an exciting opportunity. I am extremely eager to begin working with our returning and recruited players in all aspects of their development as students and athletes.”

Hunter is no stranger to the Lions’ men’s team, having served as an assistant to Castaldo during both the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

Hunter attended Salisbury University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in May 2005. He participated on the basketball team at Salisbury University, serving as the team’s captain from 2003-2005. He earned a spot on the Capital Conference All-Academic Team three times during his collegiate career.

I am pleased to announce Matt Hunter as interim basketball coach at TCNJ,” Castaldo said. “His commitment and dedication to TCNJ's overall mission of developing student-athletes has been evident during his time as my full-time assistant coach. Matt's work ethic is second to none and combined with his organizational skills, recruiting efforts, and understanding of the coaching that takes place on and off the court enables Matt to be well prepared for this interim position.”
