REACHES MILESTONE WITH A 3-2 WIN OVER NEUMANN ON OCTOBER 15

Rowan University’s Dan Gilmore recorded his 500th career win when the Profs defeated Neumann College, 3-2 on October 15.

In his 32nd season, Gilmore has compiled a 500-131-46 won-loss record at the University. He is the eighth men’s soccer coach in the history of the NCAA to achieve 500 wins, four of them are still active.

Gilmore is only the second men’s soccer coach at Rowan. He has guided the Profs to NCAA Division III National Championship in 1981 and 1990. Rowan finished second at the national tournament in 1979 and 2000 and third in 1980, 1985 and 1998.

Rowan has made 24 appearances in the NCAA tournament under Gilmore and captured 13 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) titles. Nine times he has been selected as NJAC Coach of Year. Two of his players were named the Intercollegiate Soccer Association Division III Player of the Year and one was selected the Goalkeeper of the Year. Gilmore has had 17 players earn All-America honors. He has served on various NCAA tournament selection and postseason honors committees, and recently served as the President of the New Jersey Athletic Conference during the 2006-07 academic year.

Gilmore graduated from Plymouth State (NH) in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and received his master’s from Eastern Illinois University. At Plymouth State, he was captain of the soccer team and named to the All-Conference and All-New England teams.
