WPU'S KURDYLA & TCN'S KROL NAMED NJAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

TCNJ'S DiBRUNO NAMED MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR

William Paterson University junior forward Amanda Kurdyla and The College of New Jersey’s senior back Courtney Krol have been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year respectively for the 2007 season.

The 2005 NJAC Rookie of the Year, Kurdyla is a three-time all-conference selection and a two-time first-team honoree. A two-time NJAC and ECAC Player of the Week selection during the season, she currently leads the conference in game-winning goals (7), while ranking third in the league in both points (40) and goals (19). Against NJAC competition, Kurdyla ranks fourth in both goals (7) and goals per game (0.78).

Krol earned the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award for the third consecutive season after anchoring a Lions’ defensive unit that has posted 14 shutouts on the season and currently leads the NJAC in both fewest goals allowed (4) and team goals against average (0.14). A three-time first-team all-league selection, she helped propel the Lions to their third consecutive NJAC Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

TCNJ’s senior midfielder Dana DiBruno was selected as the first ever recipient of the conference’s newly established Midfielder of the Year award. DiBruno, who was selected as the 2005 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year after being named NJAC Rookie of the Year in 2004, is a three-time first-team all-conference selection. She currently ranks second in the league in game-winning goals (5), and fifth in the conference in points (29).

Lions’ sophomore net-minder Jessica Clarke was the recipient of the conference’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. A two-time NJAC all-conference selection, Clarke currently leads the NJAC in both goals against average (0.19), and save percentage (.900).

New Jersey City University freshman forward Jennifer Albuja was tapped as the 2007 NJAC Rookie of the Year. A two-time NJAC Rookie of the Week selection during the season, Albuja currently leads the conference in both points (51) and goals (24).

TCNJ’s head coach Joe Russo was selected as the NJAC Coach of the Year by his peers. In 2007, he has guided the Lions to a 17-0-1 overall mark while capturing their third consecutive NJAC Championship and their 12th conference crown since 1994. In 18 seasons at the helm of the TCNJ program, Russo has guided the Lions to an overall record of 332-31-23.
