PLAYER OF THE WEEK  

 

Derek Gianakas, Kean University
Senior, Outfielder
Edison, NJ/Edison

Gianakas becomes the second different Cougar to earn NJAC Player of the Week honors after hitting .545 (12-for-22) with four doubles, one triple, five home runs, 15 RBI, and 13 runs scored in six games played for the Cougars. He hit safely in all six contests and produced three multiple-hit games including a 3-for-3 performance with a double, home run, two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs scored in an 18-4 non-conference win over Drew. He registered at least one extra-base hit in all six games and went 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored in a 13-1 NJAC road win at Rutgers-Newark. He wrapped up the week by going 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, two RBI, and three runs scored in a 9-4 NJAC win over Rowan. Gianakas currently leads the NJAC in home runs (8), and is tied for the league lead in runs scored (29), RBI (30) and total bases (68).

PITCHER OF THE WEEK  

Kevin Dalton, Montclair State University
Senior, Left-handed Pitcher
Edison, NJ/Edison

Dalton earns NJAC Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the Red Hawks to a victory in their first NJAC contest of the season. He allowed seven hits and no runs over eight shutout innings to propel Montclair State to an 8-1 win over No. 3 Kean in their first NJAC game of the year. In the win, he walked just one and struck out five in an outing which marked his second straight start with seven or more innings pitched. Dalton currently ranks tied for third in the NJAC in victories with three on the season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK  

Patrick Reitemeyer, Rutgers-Newark

Reitemeyer earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season after hitting .409 (9-for-22) with a double, triple, six RBI and three runs scored in five games played for the Scarlet Raiders. He hit safely in all six games and produced two multiple-hit contests including a 4-for-5 performance with a triple and four RBI in a 12-4 non-conference win over FDU-Florham. In the first NJAC contest of his career, he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the Raiders' 18-7 NJAC road win at NJCU. Reitemeyer, who handled 19 chances at his shortstop position without an error, currently ranks tied for 13th in the NJAC in hits (27).

ROOKIE PITCHER OF THE WEEK  

Anthony Cavalier, Rowan University
Freshman, Right-handed Pitcher
Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic

Cavalier becomes the second different Prof to earn NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors after garnering his first collegiate victory on the mound in Rowan’s 21-5 NJAC road win at Richard Stockton. In the Profs’ first conference contest of the season, he surrendered just three hits and no earned runs in seven innings of work while striking out 11 and walking just one. Cavalier currently ranks tied for 11th in the NJAC in strikeouts (22).
