PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

FALL 2007
WEEK ENDING 11/10/07

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

A.J. Roque, Kean University
Senior, Quarterback
Matawan, NJ/Matawan

Roque earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading Kean to a 37-27 victory over NJAC co-champion TCNJ in the regular season finale. Roque threw for a school record five touchdowns and became the conference’s all-time passing leader after finishing with 272 yards to hand TCNJ its only conference loss of the season. The four-year starter passed MSU’s Ed Collins (1999-2001) on a 58-yard fourth quarter touchdown pass that helped seal the Cougar victory. In 41 career games, he posted 8,448 career passing yards and 65 career touchdowns. With the win, Roque lead Kean to back-to-back non-losing seasons for just the third time in program history and the first time since Kean recorded winning seasons from 1992 through 1994.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Frank Musolino, William Paterson University
Sophomore, Defensive Line
Sewell, NJ/Washington Township

Musolino becomes the third different Pioneer to earn NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following a 21-20 victory over Rowan. The senior lineman was tied for team-high honors with 10 total tackles, including five solo stops and three tackles for a loss of 11 yards. His late fourth-quarter sack on third down pushed the Profs back eight yards, forcing Rowan to punt with 2:19 left in the game and WPU clinging to the one point lead.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jim Hamill, William Paterson University
Freshman, Linebacker
Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley

Hamill becomes the second Pioneer to earn NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after helping preserve the William Paterson victory over Rowan. He blocked the extra point that kept the lead in the Pioneers’ favor at 21-20 with less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter. That score would hold up in the end for the Pioneers, as Hamill tipped a pass with less than a minute remaining in the game that would be intercepted by a teammate to seal the Pioneers' fifth victory of the season.

OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Keith Rosedom, Western Connecticut State University
Freshman, Wide Receiver
Stamford, CT/Westhill

Rosedom becomes the second different Colonial to earn NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors after leading the team with seven receptions for a total of 64 yards in a 31-6 road loss at  Montclair State.  In the first quarter, Rosedom had a 30-yard touchdown reception for his third touchdown of his rookie campaign.

DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Mario McLean, Montclair State University
Freshman, Defensive Back
Montville, NJ/Montville

McLean earns NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week honors in his first career game on the defensive side of the ball. A wide receiver/kick returner through the first nine games of the season, McClean switched to cornerback and finished tied for team-high honors with 10 total tackles in a 31-6 victory over Western Connecticut. McLean, who finished with seven solo stops, helped MSU hold the Colonials to 274 yards of total offense, as the Red Hawks posted eight wins for the 18th time in program history.
