WEEK ENDING 9/21/03

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3

Sarah Wood, Rowan University
Sophomore, Forward, Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East

Wood registered only one goal during the week, but it was a big one. In a rematch of the 2002 NCAA Division III National Championship game, she tallied the game-winning score as number two ranked Rowan topped number one ranked Messiah, 2-0. The win improved the Profs to 4-0 on the season and extended the Rowan winning streak to 25 games dating back to the beginning of the 2002 season. Wood, who has posted two goals and five points on the season, currently ranks tied for fourth in the NJAC in game-winning goals (0.25).

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3

Kelly Harchetts, William Paterson University
Junior, Goalkeeper, Clarksburg, NJ/Allentown

A key factor in William Paterson's 6-0 start to the season, Harchetts registered a pair of victories in goal during a 2-0 week as the Pioneers topped FDU-Florham and Marywood by respective scores of 5-1 and 7-0. In the two games, she played a combined 112 minutes without allowing a goal while registering six saves. With her two scoreless efforts, she extended her streak of minutes played without allowing a goal to 168. In six games played during the season, Harchetts has allowed only one goal in over 344 minutes of action for an NJAC-best 0.20 goals against average.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3

Brandi Kavaliauskas, William Paterson University
Freshman, Forward, Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional

Kavaliauskas captures NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after tallying 10 points in two Pioneer victories during the week for the 6-0 Pioneers. She opened the week by scoring a goal in William Paterson's victory over FDU-Florham. She wrapped up her week by tallying four goals for eight points in WPU's win over Marywood. Her offensive output at Marywood marked the second four-goal game of her brief collegiate career. The Pioneer team leader in both goals and game-winning goals, Kavaliauskas currently leads the NJAC in both total goals (10) and goals per game (1.67).
