| The Gothic Knight women traveled to Landover, MD to compete at the University of Maryland Invitational on January 21. Senior Andrea Herbert placed eighth among a field of Division I, II and III athletes in the triple jump with a leap of 11.02 meters. Senior Denay Caldwell placed 13th in the 60 meter hurdles and 43rd in the 60 meter dash with respective times of 9.27 and 8.31. Freshman Ellysha Delva 18th in the long jump and 16th in the triple jump with respective leaps of 4.79 and 10.01 meters. Freshman Candice Bellamy placed 26th in the triple jump and 38th in the long jump with respective marks of 9.00 and 4.09 meters. Sophomore Samayyah Washington placed 41st in the 60 meter hurdles and 55th in the 200 meters with respective times of 11.43 and 29.64. Sophomore Merlude Narcisse placed 43rd in the 60 meter hurdles and 53rd in the 200 meters with respective times of 12.51 and 29.44. | The Gothic Knight men traveled to Landover, MD to compete at the University of Maryland Invitational on January 21. Junior Hyron Griffith bested a field of Division I, II and III competitors by winning the long jump with a school-record and NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 7.26 meters. Griffith also won the triple jump with a school-record and NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 14.31 meters. Junior Anthony Campbell won the 400 meters and placed second in the 200 meters with respective times of 49.12 and 22.23. Sophomore Thomas Hunter placed second in the 60 meter dash with an NCAA provisional time of 6.88. Hunter also placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 49.83. Sophomore Ronald Hussey placed eighth in the 400 meters and 15th in the 60 meter dash with respective times of 50.40 and 7.08. The Gothic Knight 4x400 meter relay team of Miles, Hussey, Hunter and Campbell placed fourth with a time of 3:20.60. Junior Terry Pearson placed 16th in the 200 meters with a time of 23.10, while freshman Donnie Bellamy Jr. placed 34th with a time of 23.78. Senior Joseph Carroll placed 41st in the mile run and 42nd in the 3,000 meters with respective times of 4:48.60 and 9:41.19. Freshman Walter Cook placed 67th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.99. |
