PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 1

Charles Ransom, Ramapo College
Senior, Guard, Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson

The 2002-03 NJAC Player of the Year, Ransom opened his senior season by averaging 23.6 points per game in three victories for the Roadrunners. He opened the week by tallying 24 points and five rebounds in Ramapo's 91-72 road victory over USMMA-Kings Point. In the first round of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament, he registered 26 points, four rebounds and four assists as Ramapo edged Yeshiva, 83-81. Playing for the third consecutive night, he tallied 21 points to lead the Roadrunners to a 109-86 championship game win over Suffolk. The MVP of the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament, Ransom has opened the season by shooting 51 percent from his guard position.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - WEEK 1

Jermont Horton, Rutgers University-Newark
Freshman, Forward, Irvington, NJ/Irvington

A key newcomer for the Scarlet Raiders, Horton averaged 23.5 points per game in his first two collegiate games as Rutgers-Newark earned a split in the AIRCAST Tip-Off Classic. He opened the season by posting 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting to lead the Raiders to a 95-57 first round win over Wentworth. He wrapped up the tournament by tallying 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting while pulling down nine rebounds in a 98-87 loss to Washington College. Through two games, Horton is shooting 64.5 percent from the floor for Rutgers-Newark.
