PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3

Samar Battle, New Jersey City University
Senior, Guard, East Orange, NJ/Clifford Scott

Battle earns NJAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 26.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Gothic Knights. He opened the week by tallying 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals as NJCU improved to 2-0 in the NJAC with a 97-73 win over Rutgers-Camden. He wrapped up the week by netting a career-high 29 points in a 96-81 win over Hunter in the NJAC/CUNY Challenge to become the 23rd player in NJCU history to eclipse the 1,000-career point plateau. Battle currently ranks second in the NJAC in scoring with an average of 21.0 points per game.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - WEEK 3

Jermont Horton, Rutgers University-Newark
Freshman, Forward, Irvington, NJ/Irvington

Horton earns NJAC Rookie honors for the second time this season after averaging 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Rutgers-Newark. He opened the week by tallying eight points and four rebounds in just 12 minutes off the bench in the Scarlet Raiders' 52-41 non-conference win over York (NY). He wrapped up the week by posting game-high totals of 21 points and 14 rebounds off the bench in Newark's 68-59 NJAC loss to Richard Stockton. Horton currently ranks 10th in the NJAC in scoring with an average of 16.6 points per game.
