PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 6

Lamont Newell, Montclair State University

Newell earns NJAC Player of the Week honors after posting a game-high 22 points in MSU's come-from-behind 88-78 first round victory over Goucher in the Grand Canyon Sports Classic. The Red Hawks, who trailed for almost the entire game, took their first lead with just 2:50 remaining in the second half. Newell, who scored seven of MSU's last 10 points, shot 7-of-12 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line while also dishing out five assists in the victory.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - WEEK 6

Matt Betz, Kean University
Freshman, Guard, Lower Cape May, NJ/Cape May

Betz earns NJAC Rookie honors after playing a key role in Kean's 80-78 overtime victory over Staten Island in the CSI Tournament of Heroes championship game. With the Cougars trailing by two points with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation, he recorded a lay-up to send the game into overtime. In total, he finished with four points in just 11 minutes of action as the Cougars improved to 8-1 overall and earned head coach Bruce Hamburger his school-record 99th career head coaching victory.
