Barnes earns NJAC Player of the Week honors after
averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game while shooting
53.3 percent from his guard position in a pair of key victories for the
Scarlet Raiders. He opened the week by tallying 25 points on 9-of-16
shooting from the field and 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range in the
Raiders’ 80-74 non-conference victory over York (NY). Three days later, he
opened play in the NJAC by producing 24 points, seven rebounds, three
assists and three steals in Newark’s 75-68 league-opening victory over
Richard Stockton. The 2005-06 NJAC Co-Rookie of the Year, Barnes currently
leads the NJAC with an average of 3.40 three-point field goals made per
game. |

Lopez earns NJAC Rookie honors after averaging 11.5
points and 2.0 rebounds per game during the week for the Gothic Knights.
He opened the week by connecting on his only shot of the game for three
points in NJCU’s 81-70 non-conference road win at John Jay. He wrapped up
the week by tallying a game-high 20 points in just 14 minutes of action on
5-of-6 shooting from three point range and 5-of-5 shooting from the foul
line in NJCU’s 72-70 conference road loss at TCNJ. Lopez currently ranks
tied for third in the NJAC in three-point field goal percentage (.500). |
