William Paterson University junior
guard Horace Jenkins (Elizabeth HS/Elizabeth, NJ) is the 1999-2000 New
Jersey Athletic Conference “Pony Wilson” Player of the Year award winner. The NJAC’s leading scorer, Jenkins averaged
21.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 4.3 apg to lead the Pioneers to the NJAC championship and
a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Joining Jenkins on the first team
are four seniors: Maurice Davis (Rowan
University), William Turner (Richard Stockton College), Joe Amari (The College
of New Jersey) and Jon Greene (New Jersey City University).
Ramapo College forward/guard Charles
Ransom (Dickinson HS/Jersey City, NJ) is this year’s Rookie of the
Year. Jermel Mayo (Irvington
HS/Irvington, NJ), a junior guard from Montclair State University, is the
Defensive Player of the Year.
Three coaches shared Coach of the
Year honors: Jose Rebimbas of
William Paterson University, whose team won their first conference title
since 1984; Ted Fiore of Montclair State University, whose squad
captured the ECAC Metro title; and Gerry Matthews of Richard Stockton
College, whose team battled in the finals of both the NJAC and ECAC
tournaments.
