OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tom Gannon, Rowan University Senior, Forward Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan
Gannon earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after registering game-winning goals in each of three victories during the week for the Profs. He opened the week by registering the game-winning score off of a direct kick in Rowan’s 3-1 non-conference win over Division II Wilmington. Two days later, he headed in the game-winner in the first overtime period of the Profs’ 1-0 NJAC road win at Ramapo. Three days later, he headed in the lone goal of the game in the second half of Rowan’s 1-0 NJAC victory over Rutgers-Newark. In 15 matches played for Rowan on the season, Gannon has recorded five goals and three assists for 13 points.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andre Viola, New Jersey City University Freshman, Goalkeeper Clifton, NJ/St. Joseph's-Montvale
Viola earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting three shutouts in a span of five days for the Gothic Knights. He opened the week by collecting one save in NJCU’s 5-0 non-conference road win at CCNY. Two days later, he recorded six saves in the Knights’ 1-0 NJAC road win at Rutgers-Newark. Three days later, he wrapped up the week by notching seven saves for his third consecutive shutout in a key 3-0 NJAC win over Montclair State. Viola, who has not surrendered a goal in his last 273 minutes of action, currently ranks second in the NJAC in total saves with 69 on the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Giuseppe Trani, Ramapo College Freshman, Forward Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley
Trani earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors after leading the Roadrunners to a key conference victory at Stockton. Just two days after Ramapo suffered a 1-0 overtime defeat at home to Rowan, he netted the game-winning goal in the Roadrunners’ key 3-1 NJAC road victory over the Ospreys. Trani currently ranks third in the NJAC in goals per game with a mark of (0.69).
