2009 NJAC SOFTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS ANNOUNCED

PITMAN--William Paterson senior third baseman Meghan Reilly and Rowan senior right-hander Jackie Sasko have been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Year respectively for the 2009 season. Their selections highlighed the 36-member 2009 NJAC Softball All-Conference Team which was announced on April 29. All selections were made by a vote of the league's 10 head coaches.
A three-time all-conference selection, Reilly currently leads the NJAC in on-base percentage (.540) and ranks second in the league in runs scored (40). A Week 7 NJAC Player of the Week selection, she posted league-best statistics against conference competition in both on-base percentage (.545) and runs scored (19). On the season, Reilly is currently hitting .453 with 13 doubles, three triples, one home run, 16 RBI and nine stolen bases. She also has produced a .955 fielding percentage on 88 total chances at her third base position.
A two-time NJAC first-team all-conference selection, Sasko currently leads the NJAC in earned run average (0.73), wins (18), and opposing batting average (.136). A two-time NJAC Pitcher of the Week selection, she posted league-best statistical totals against NJAC competition in both strikeouts (77) and saves (1). On the year, Sasko is currently 18-3 with 150 strikeouts in 143.0 innings pitched.
Rowan freshman first baseman Nicki Veneziano was tapped as the league Rookie of the Year. Against NJAC competition, she ranked second in batting average (.442), on-base percentage (.531) and hits (23). A two-time NJAC Rookie of the Week selection, she currently ranks third overall in the conference in runs scored with 32 on the season.
Rowan University head coach Kim Wilson was selected as the 2009 NJAC Coach of the Year by her peers. So far in 2009, she has guided the Profs to an overall record of 31-8 as Rowan led the league race wire-to-wire and captured the NJAC regular season championship via a 15-3 conference mark. The top-seeded Profs will host the remainder of the 2009 NJAC Championship Softball Tournament at the Rowan University Softball Complex on May 1-3. Wilson has produced an overall career head coaching record of 468-203, including a mark of 304-146 in 13 seasons at Rowan.
