GLASSBORO--By virtue of a 3-0 record in conference tournament play, seconded-seeded William Paterson was crowned 2009 NJAC Softball Champions on May 3 when inclement weather forced the cancellation of Game 10 between the Pioneers and sixth-seeded Montclair State.

The Pioneers, who claimed their fourth NJAC softball title in program history and their first league crown since 2005, also received the league's automatic qualificaton to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

Wiliam Paterson opened tournament play with a 3-0 win over fifth-seeded Kean at home on April 28. They rallied for a 14-6 win over third-seeded TCNJ on May 1, and came-from-behind again one day later on May 2 to eliminate top-seeded Rowan, 7-6.

The Pioneers will find out their NCAA Tournament regional desination and seeding on May 4, as the NCAA will announce the entire tournament field via a live broadcast on www.ncaa.com at 11:00 AM.
